International Pole Convention 2013

Hudreds of dancers, instructors, and spectators filled the Palm Beach Convention Center this weekend.
Interview with Piilani Sorrells,
Owner of Just Pole,
From Kapolei, Hawaii.

Pole dancing involves spins, climbs, and moves that are borderline risqué. If some of these moves were done on a horizontal bar, it would be praised for the strength and athleticism it takes.
But, let’s get real.
Many of us associate the bar with stripping. For others, this exercise is an art and a sexier form of fitness that guarantees results.
“When I first started doing pole it was just so much fun, and you don't realize you’re working out and one day I was in the mirror brushing my hair and I saw my muscle and I ran to my husband and told him ‘look!’," said Piilani Sorrells.
Hundreds of people from all around the world made their way to Palm Beach County for a weekend that united this alternate fitness community.
“It’s not an erotic or exotic event; it’s purely about pole fitness, “said event organizer Jessalynn Medairy.
The International Pole Convention gave attendees access to free workshops, performances by stars in the Pole community, and a chance to get their names in the PoleCon Hall of Fame.
Exercise poles were stationed throughout for people to expose their strengths and showcase their best moves.
