Surf's up for Pups:
First Annual Dog Surfing Competition, Jupiter Beach, FL.

It's common for surfers to invade our beaches, but how many times can you say you've witnessed paws dominate the long board?
Ocean Magic of Jupiter & Big Dog Ranch Rescue teamed up to bring the First Annual "Surf's Up, Dogs" Surfing competition to Palm Beach County.
No leash? No problem.
Canines of all sizes mounted surf boards and wowed the crowd with their athletic skills in the water; proving they could do it too.
This family-fun event also had many pet owners and their four-legged friends strut across a red carpet for the Canine Costume contest. Judges awarded five places from each of the small, medium, and large category.
At the end of the event, winners from the surfing competition and costume contest received canvas plaques prepared by Big Dog Ranch Rescue volunteers. Each canvas was specially decorated with paw prints from rescued dogs at the ranch.
Pizza slices were also sold for $2. All proceeds benefit Big Dog Ranch Rescue.

Getting ready to hit the waves!

Size didn't matter in this competition; it was all about skill.

Dog's are surfing. Next, pigs will be flying. Then a lot of us will be in trouble.

2nd place for the Large Dog Category

First place for the small dog category!

Check out those awards.. Each one was custom made. Dogs up for adoption at the Big Dog Ranch Rescue contributed to the making of these beauties by walking over each canvas and leaving their paw prints behind.

How many of you would have thought this dog could surf?

After watching this canine, I want one of my own! When I do adopt, you can be sure he will know how to surf!
